Tell Them
Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power. Psalm 145:4 NLT
The students had to create a video using the five words of the week from this quarter and five Christmas words we chose. Here are the results.

The fourth candle in the Advent wreath and the fourth week of Advent remind us of peace. Could that come at a better time? How's your shopping? Baking? Wrapping? Cleaning? Preparing of your heart? Can you believe we are already here to the week before Christmas? I can't. I am thankful for the reminder of peace this week brings. Not the peace that anything in this world can give, but the peace that only can come from God. May your heart be reminded of the "peace which transcends all human understanding" this week as you prepare for Christmas and the Messiah. The sixth graders are finishing up some chapters and tests so that we can start fresh after the break. They will be having a language test on verbs tomorrow and a social studies test on chapter 5 on Tuesday. I believe they also have a science test on Tuesday. Finally, on Wednesday we will have the 3rd article of the creed and the meaning. Wednesday will also bring the Christmas pancake breakfast sponsored by PTL after our time in chapel. When the breakfast is done, around 10:30-10:45 we will head back to the room for the Christmas party. I have touched base with Mrs. Barcume our room mom and she would ask for the following things:
I hope that you and your family have a very special and blessed Christmas this year! Here is a sneak peek at the auction projects from the sixth grade. The auction is on March 24th. Tickets are on sale in the office and the price increases in the new year. Consider joining us for a fun night and fellowship!
Hopefully your child enjoyed their day off yesterday and maybe even was able to play in the snow. Please make sure that you send in the proper boots for your child to wear in the snow at recess. If they wear a pair of "fashion" boots to school they will need a pair of boots to wear in the snow. We cannot wear the same boots in the classroom and in the snow. If your child would like to play, lay, or fall in the snow they will need snowpants to be able to do that. We do not have recess today, so you have a day to round all these things up.
Because of the snow day, we are going to move the literature test back a day to Friday. The other tests should stay on the day they were planned. What brings you joy this time of year? Buying gifts for loved ones? Hearing Christmas music? Maybe you are filled with joy when you sit in your home with the Christmas tree all lit! Possibly you love driving around and looking at all the Christmas lights and that is a source of joy. Whatever it is that brings you joy this season, I hope you know that it is nothing compared to the joy that comes from God's greatest gift ever given, Jesus. May we find joy in our Savior. A joy that is eternal! The upcoming week is an important one for our students. They will join with the the other students in sharing God's message of love and a Savior to all who gather for our Christmas program. The choirs and band will be doing pre-service music. The sixth graders will have a recitation and a song. We also have two students serving as Mary and Joseph. A note came home a few weeks ago with reminds and information about the evening. The students in choir and band are asked to arrive a half hour early. Their preservice music will begin 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. Students are asked to dress in black pants or skirts and a solid plain red shirt or sweater. Girls can wear a solid red dress with black tights or leggings. No tank tops or spaghetti straps. Each family is also asked to donate 2 dozen cookies for the reception in the gym following the 6:30 performance. The two performances will be at 2pm and also at 6:30pm. We have been brushing up on our parts, so it is going to be a great night with the greatest message. We are on course to wrap up our current chapters before the Christmas break which is great! What is not as great about it, is that we will be having some tests as we get closer to the break. Also, I have been telling the students that next week's memory is a little bit of a long one and they need to study ahead of time since Tuesday is the program. Here is how it looks like it is shaping up: Wednesday the 14th - 2nd article of the creed and meaning Thursday the 15th - Literature Theme Three test Monday the 19th - Language test on Verbs Tuesday the 20th - Social Studies Test on Chapter 5 Wednesday the 21st - 3rd article of the creed and meaning Hope you have a great weekend! This week in sixth grade we did an activity about the social heirarchy we learned about in history. There are four groups such as the following: Orange which have the most power, Yellow, Green, and Pink which are basically the servents. This didn’t just happen in history, it carried on through the whole day. It even happened again today! We had lots of fun with this activity. Today we light the second candle in the advent wreath. The second candle is for peace. How peaceful are you feeling lately? I have had a few days of feeling more anxiety than peace. My prayer for all of us in this time of year that we will experience moments of peace that without a doubt comes from the Lord! The sixth graders have a bit of a quiet week compared to last week. We do not have any major tests or quizzes this week besides Memory. For memory this week we have the first article of the creed and the meaning. The word of the week this week is radiant. We are continuing to work on our parts for the Christmas program on the 13th. Remember that the students are being asked to wear black pants or skirts and red tops. The choirs will also be signing as preservice music! There are two programs, one at 2 and one at 6:30pm. Your child is needed at both to help share the Christmas message. Have a great week and look for the moments of peace that will come your way! |
