Tell Them
Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power. Psalm 145:4 NLT
The students were given four book orders in school today. This is a completely optional activity. There are a variety of different books for different interests. If you would like to order a book you can do so one of two ways. You can send in the order and check to school (make the check out to Scholastic) or you can go online (scholastic.com/readingclub)and put in our class code HHC88. Either way you order, the deadline is October 16th. This will allow for pre-orders for the new Wimpy Boy book.

If you are going as a chaperone, your paperwork and payment will need to be handed in on the 5th as well. We will meet on Monday, October 5th, at 6pm. See you then!!
This week we have the following tests: Returning Thanks memory quiz on Wednesday Social Studies chapter 2 test on Friday Spelling list 5 test on Friday Captialization quiz on Friday Friday is a jeans day! This means that you are able to wear jeans with a dress code top.
Just a reminder that we will be meeting in two weeks on Monday, October 5th, to discuss our trip to MCYC. Please send one parent to the meeting which will be in the sixth grade room and start at 6pm. At this time all your forms and money will be due. If you have questions, please let me know.
This week will mark the first full week of school. We are starting to get into a routine and settling into sixth grade. There are a handful of students who forgot their red portfolio at school on Friday. Please look for that to come home on Monday. It is really important for you to look over this portfolio with your student to see their progress in school. We have started to have our first chapter tests, and this week will bring some more.
Memory still seems to be a struggle for some students on Wednesday. Each week on Wednesday we will have a written memory quiz. This is a fill in the blank quiz. You received a schedule at orientation night, your child has a schedule, and a schedule is posted on this website. As we start the fourth week of school, it is also a good time to check and see how many oral memory verses your child has said for the quarter. There are ten verses to say before November 4th, and some students have not said any verses. This week: Memory on Wednesday: Asking a Blessing Religion open book test on Unit one on Friday Language test on Unit one on Friday Spelling Test on List 4 on Friday Tomorrow is spirit day! Your child can wear any Peace t-shirt of sweatshirt. They must wear dress code appropriate bottoms. The challenge is to see which class can wear
I have asked the sixth graders to bring in four pieces of clean trash on Tuesday. All four pieces must fit into a brown lunch bag. These items will help us understand a lesson in Social Studies next week!
Yesterday your child brought home their portfolio! It is a red binder and we will be keeping all our papers in this binder for each quarter. Each Friday they will bring it home to show you their work and how they are progressing in school. Although there are not many papers in the portfolio from this week, please look through them together. In the front of the portfolio there are some goals that your child wrote for the first quarter. Take the time to ask them about those goals and encourage them throughout the quarter to work toward the goals.
Just a reminder that tomorrow will be our first memory quiz. The students will have a fill in the blank quiz on Isaiah 6:8. This verse serves as the theme verse for the year:
"Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"" Isaiah 6:8 |
