Tell Them
Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power. Psalm 145:4 NLT
Less than a week to go before the students' knowledge fair projects are due. I hope that they are able to complete it this weekend and not have to worry about it during the week. The projects need to be brought into school on Thursday. Please do not bring them before; I do not want any exhibits getting damaged. On Thursday, the students will be presenting their project to the class. The students need to present for no less than a minute and no more than two minutes. I suggested they practice in their room so that they know what they want to say. We will take some time on Tuesday and Wednesday to practice our presentations with a classmate. The students will be asked to not read straight off their board. The projects will be kept at school until Monday, March 6th. Please join us on Friday night to visit all the classrooms and see the projects.
Here are some things coming up this week - Wednesday - Memory Quiz - 6th Petition and meaning Wednesday - Pronoun Test Thursday - Knowledge Fair Project due Thursday - Shopping at the book fair Friday - Knowledge Fair - classrooms open 6:30pm

Hopefully your family enjoyed the long weekend and the beautiful spring weather we had here in Michigan. I am trying hard to remember it is Michigan and a big snow storm may happen again. Until then, I will enjoy the unseasonable weather. Here is a look at our short week and into the following week.
Looking ahead into the following week, please remember that the knowledge fair projects are due on Thursday. The students will be giving a short presentation to the their classmates on their project. I will allow them some class time to practice this presentation on Tuesday and Wednesday. They will be signing up for their spot in the presentation order this week. Remember the guidelines are posted on the the Knowledge Fair tab. Next week Wednesday through Friday we will be hosting the Scholastic Book Fair at Peace. The sixth graders will have an opportunity to shop at the book fair on Thursday. If you would like to send them with money to do shopping, you may. This is an optional activity. I believe the book fair will also be open during the knowledge fair on Friday evening. Have a great week! Anyone interested in ordering from the February book order, the order is due tomorrow by 4pm. You can order online or send in the order with a check made out to Scholastic Book Order.
I do not know if you celebrate Valentine's Day or not, but I hope that you always know how much God loves you as His dear child. We will be having a very short party for Valentine's day on Tuesday. We will have some popcorn and pass out our Valentines. If your child would like to bring in valentines for their classmates they may as long as they have one for everyone. We will take 20 minutes in the afternoon to pass them out and enjoy a snack. I talked to the sixth graders yesterday about a change to the memory schedule. When I made the schedule I had the wrong date for winter break. So, the schedule shows no quiz next week, but there is a quiz on the 22nd. We decided to switch those two days. We will be doing the 5th petition this week (the 15th) and have no memory on the following week (the 22nd). Sorry for the confusion. Next Friday is a jeans day with a $1 donation to Hearts for Jesus mission. If you would like to order books for your child from the book order, those are also due by next Friday. You can send those in with a check to Scholastic or you can order online! Have a great rest of the weekend. Just two reminders for tomorrow. Tomorrow is a regular jeans and spirit day. We will also be watching the movie Holes in the afternoon. The students may bring in a snack for during the movie (no sweets please) and a drink (no caffeine please).
Hopefully you are having a great Saturday! We had a productive week in sixth grade this week. We finished the book Holes that we have been reading. I think the students enjoyed the book and seeing all the connections at the end. Monday we will be taking a test on the book. Friday we will be watching the movie in the afternoon. The students will be allowed to bring in a snack for themselves and something to drink. Please no sweets or caffeine drinks!
We also worked on our knowledge fair projects. The students each have picked one of Jesus's parables to study and have started (or finished) writing their own parable. The rest of the work for the knowledge fair will be done at home and the completed project will be brought to school on Thursday, March 2nd. Friday of next week (the 10th) is a regular jeans and spirit day! This is also the day of Peace's Talent Show. This is a great event each year. This year the teachers are getting in on the act as well! Check Panther Tales to see the details and times for the show. I had one parent ask me about what the sixth graders do for Valentine's Day. We will have a time during the day for the students to exchange a valentine or treat with each other. Please remember and be aware of the allergies we have in our classroom. We will have a small snack and that is about it for our party! If your child is sending in valentines, please make sure they have one for each student in the class. We have 20 sixth graders. Here are some of the tests we have coming up in the week: Monday: Holes Test Tuesday: Social Studies Test - Chapter 7 Wednesday: Memory 4th petition and meaning Tomorrow the students can wear jeans with a $1 donation to the Hearts for Jesus Mission. They can also wear a football jersey or t-shirt (pro or college) to get hyped for the Superbowl.
