Tell Them
Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power. Psalm 145:4 NLT
Ending a school year is always bittersweet for me. We had a great year in sixth grade and I loved having your children in my classroom. They were a great class and we had a lot of fun times together. While summer vacation is a great time of year, saying good bye to a class like this is a sad time. Thank you for all your support this school year and helping to encourage your child to do well in school. I pray your summer is a safe and relaxing one.
One more week and chance to pack it full of activities: MONDAY - we will recap all our words of the week that we have had and try to write a silly paragraph with some of them. We have also finished our novel Phantom Tollbooth and we will complete the project we have been working on throughout the book. TUESDAY - We will have our final Social Studies Test of the year on chapter 13. All D.A.R.E. projects must also be done by this day. WEDNESDAY - We will take a test on the novel Phantom Tollbooth. We will take our final Memory Quiz on Where is it written? What do you believe according to these words? We will take time in the afternoon to watch the animated (and a little cheesy) movie that goes with the novel. I will provide the popcorn, the students may bring in a non caffeinated drink. THURSDAY - We will wrap a few things, but the majority of the morning will be cleaning out lockers and returning books. Please, please, please send an extra bag or two with your child on this day. I have encouraged some students who have a closet of clothes to start taking things home earlier in the week. At 11 am we will meet in the sanctuary for the students to present what they have learned at D.A.R.E.. Officer Leslie will be there to present their certificates. Please join us for this hour, if you are able. This is a half day and there is no bus service. FRIDAY - We will hold our class sale to spend our Kopper Kash. If you would like to donate a few items from the dollar store, that would be great. This is also the day of the awards ceremony and closing chapel. You are welcome to join us for those two services. I am going to ask Mr. Kennedy if the sixth graders can wear their D.A.R.E. shirts on this day! Stay tuned for that. This is the last day to say oral memory and hand in missing work. WoW what a week! I know it will go by quickly just like this year has. If you have questions, please let me know. I will have the research papers graded by Monday.
