Tell Them
Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power. Psalm 145:4 NLT
Remember if you are picking We all tried to give our best smile today for our school pictures. Hopefully you will like how it turns out. The make up day for pictures is going to be November 3rd.
CAMP, it is coming so quickly. We will be meeting on Monday at 6pm, to discuss our camp trip. Someone from each family needs to come to the meeting to hand in the forms and check. Please remember that if you are attending as an adult, you need to fill out a liability form. Please also initial that you give permission for the different activities that are checked off. We may need some parents to help with transporting us to and from camp. I will hopefully know what our needs are after finding out what parents are attending camp. If you know you are attending camp, but have not told me that in the last week, please email me you are going and how many students you can drive. Any parents attending the trip at any time must have a copy of your license on file in the office. If you are driving students, please make sure they also have a copy of your recent insurance. I can make copies of licenses and insurance on Monday. Cost mistake for parents - on the parent worksheet for cost. If you are doing a la carte, the cost for a horse is $15 and $4 for a candle. Sorry for the mix up. Next Tuesday we will be setting off bottle rockets with our buddies. A member of our church will be setting up a few rockets at a time and we will take turns sending them off. We will do this on the soccer field in the morning. Mr. Kelly has done this many times for boy scouts, Peace's VBS, and other organizations. I think the kids are going to love this! Next week is also Panther Prowl. I think we have all of our forms turned into the office. Remember, if you are picking your child up at school they will be dismissed at 1:30. We will be having a science test on Wednesday next week and memory is the first and second commandments and meanings. Enjoy your weekend.

One week from Monday we will gather for our MCYC meeting. We will meet on October 2nd, at 6pm for a very very short meeting to discuss our class trip to camp. At this time, you should also bring in all your forms and money for your child and any adults attending the trip. If you are a parent who is not able to go for the whole time, please let me know before the meeting when you are able to attend. This way I can figure your cost ahead of time. The meeting will be a half hour at the longest! If you have any questions, please let me know. Our camp trip is planned for October 11th through the 13th. Please also remember that you will need to pick your child up at school at 1:30 on Friday the 13th. If you do not have your forms anymore, you can print them off by clicking here.
Bring your best smile! Next Friday, the students will have their school pictures taken. The forms were sent home with your child last Friday. We are using a new company this year and the ordering process is a little different. All the students will have their pictures taken, whether they are going to order prints or not. Pattern dress clothes are allowed for picture day. If you would like a class composite for your child, make sure you order one on the order form. The class composite is not a free item with the new company.

Next week on Tuesday we will have our first math test of the year. The students will have a test on chapter 1. They should be reviewing the chapter and specifically their math notebooks where we have been adding all sorts of notes throughout the chapter. The students will also have Returning Thanks for memory on Wednesday. Some students did not seem prepared for memory on Wednesday and hopefully, it will be better this week. I hope your child is sinking into the routine of sixth grade more each week we are in school. i know they have been a great bunch to have in the classroom. Thank you for sharing them with me. Happy Friday!
Today the students are bringing home an order form for school pictures. We are using a new company this year and the order form is a little different. The order form has your child's name on the form as well as the directions for ordering. Please be careful to keep the form until picture day on September 29th. I will be putting some more pictures on the Photo Circle app today. We had fun this week meeting our buddies for the year. We also were able to create a craft with them on Thursday. We also concluded our study of the scientific method by "playing" with water, sugar, and artificial sugar. Next week we are only having one quiz and that is memory on Wednesday. We will be learning Asking a Blessing. Please encourage your student to start their oral memory, if they have not yet started. We are looking to have a math test around Tuesday, September 26th. Have a great weekend. If you were wanting to order from September's book orders, your order is due by Friday, September 15th. You can place your order online with the code HHC88 or send in a check made out to Scholastic.
We are deep in science inquiry and need more time on the scientific method. Because we need more time, the quiz will get moved back to Thursday!
Another great week in sixth grade. Here are some of the highlights:
1.) We had all 12 students together starting Thursday. It is great to have Anthony and Pamela with us and now we feel like a complete class. The students are settling into the routines and responsibilities that this year has brought. 2.) We continued our investigation and learning of the scientific method by doing a paper airplane experiment. We will finish our last experiment on Monday. We will then review the parts of the scientific process for our quiz on Wednesday. 3.) In math we are continuing with place value and the different ways we can write numbers. Next week on Friday, the students will have a quiz on lessons 1-5. 4.) In religion we have been looking at the beginning of the world and God's creation. We also looked at how God had a plan for salvation as soon as sin entered the world. I am challenging the students to find something they didn't know before in these very familiar chapters of the Bible. Some things to remember for the week coming up: Sunday the 10th - Peace will be having our annual church outdoor worship service at 10am. This will also be our time to thank Mr. Kittleman for his service to Peace as he transitions to his new position at Concordia University. Wednesday the 13th - Memory will be the Evening Prayer and we will have a quiz on the scientific method. Friday the 15th - Anyone who wants to order from the book order for September should submit their order online or send it in to school by Friday. We will also have a quiz on Lessons 1-5 in Math. Enjoy your weekend! Every Friday, starting tomorrow, is a jeans day! The students can also wear a Peace spirit wear shirt or a shirt that has a Christian message.
Hopefully you and your family have had a great and relaxing weekend. It was so nice to start the school and settle into the new routine. It will also be nice to be able to start this week hitting the ground running. I try to post something each weekend giving you a look into the following week.
Last week, we walked through the different types of memory for sixth grade. The students did very well on their written memory last week. Please encourage your child to pace themselves in their oral memory. The written memory for next week will be The Morning Prayer. You can find the prayer in the catechism. I have updated the grades in Fast Direct and I encourage you to check this regularly. The students will also be bringing home graded work when it is handed back. Please ask to see this if you child is the type that won't show it to you on their own. This week on Tuesday we start Spanish. The students will have Spanish one time a week for 40 minutes. I will be sending home our first book order this week. They will be due on Friday, September 15th. You can place the order online following by clicking on this link https://orders.scholastic.com/HHC88. Please make your check out to Scholastic Book Club. Have a great remainder of your weekend and see you Tuesday! |
