Tell Them
Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power. Psalm 145:4 NLT
The sixth graders have finished reading the book Holes. We are going to do a few wrap up activities with the book this week and take a test on the book on Thursday. A movie has been made from this book and I would like to show it to the students on Friday, February 12th, as our Valentine's Day party. The movie is rated PG and I will need an email or not from each parent giving me permission for your child to watch the movie. If you would like to read a review of the movie you can find one at https://www.commonsensemedia.org/movie-reviews/holes If you have any questions, please let me know.
If your child is going to be bringing in a valentine for other students, I ask that they bring one in for each student in the class. We will take time on the 12th to exchange those valentines. This is an optional activity. Here are some of the tests we have coming up this week: Wednesday Memory - 3rd Petition Social Studies Test - Chapter 7 - Wednesday Holes test - Thursday Spelling List 17 - Friday Have a great week!

We are half way through the school year, believe it or not. Today starts the third quarter and report cards go home tomorrow for the second quarter. In the third quarter the students will have 8 oral memory verses to say, three AR books to read, and they will be working with Mr. Priehs on a science fair project.
The students are also publishing a book. Together they are writing a book with Mrs. Gearhart in computer class. The book will be bound and published, much like the book they made last year. Today an order form is going home for you to have the opportunity to order your own copy of the book. If you are interested please, send the order form back to school with the payment by Wednesday. If you are not interested, simply check the no box towards the bottom, sign, and send the form back. This week: Wednesday - test on Nouns Wednesday Memory - All of the section of the 2nd Petition Friday - Spelling test lesson 16 Stay warm and enjoy your week! Happy Monday! I hope that you are enjoying this long weekend and able to find time to relax and recharge. Our email is down at school, so I am able to receive emails, but at this time not able to send them. I sent Friday's homework on Fast Direct today. As we move into the end of the quarter this week, there are a few tests and items for students to be finishing up.
Two weeks to go until we are half way through 6th grade. Is time flying by for you? Remember that this Friday is the due date for the sixth graders book report on the biography they read this quarter. Multiple copies of the guidelines were given to the students throughout the year, but if they are missing it - click here.
The students have until Friday, January 22nd to say their oral memory as well. Some have been staying on top of the memory better this quarter, but some have a ways to go. Fast Direct is up to date with the verses that have been said and those that are left to be said. Students were required to read three books for AR points this quarter. One of the books was their biography. A lot of sixth grades have well passed this guideline. Others still have a book or so to finish to complete the assignment. I will take the top three grades for the quarter and if they do not have three a zero will be given. This week we will be doing The Lord's Prayer, Introduction, and Meaning for written memory. This past week we started reading the novel Holes in class. Friday, we will be through the first part of the book and will have a quiz on that part. I plan on another social studies test on Chapter 6 during the week of January 18th. I hope the rest of your weekend is relaxing and restful. Happy New Year and welcome back to the routine of school and maybe for some of you work. I hope that you and your family had a restful and happy break. I just wanted to give you a reminder of a few things coming up this week and in the near future:
I hope this new year brings you much joy, happiness, and God's richest blessings. |
