Tell Them
Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power. Psalm 145:4 NLT
Today the packets of information for the knowledge fair project went out to the students. The first two pages give the guidelines specifically for each part. One page is a diagram of their board and exhibit. There are four sides that are sheets for them to use to help them plan their project. These pages will not be collected. I have posted the pages here so that you can refer to them as well. I will make a page for easy access on the navigation bar. All the students that were here today chose a parable for their project.

This week we were so into the story of Queen Esther; we were not able to make it to the parables. We will start with this on Monday. I will have a list of parables that the students can choose from for the Knowledge Fair. I will also give them a packet of information to aid them in their process of the project. We will do some preliminary work together next week and hopeful that will leave only the "fun" stuff for home. This project will be due on Thursday, March 2nd.
Packets went home today with each family with paperwork for re-enrolling your child in Peace for the 2017-2018 school year. Please make sure you dig that packet out as enrollment begins on Monday for Peace families. There are not many other announcements to share with you. Below are some tests we have coming up for next week and even some for the week after. Monday - Quiz in Language on PN, DO, IO Wednesday - 3rd Petition and Meaning Friday - Language test on the Nouns Unit Monday the 6th- Test on Holes Tuesday the 7th - Test on Chapter 7 in Social Studies Have a great rest of your weekend! I am postponing the Language quiz until Monday. I want to make sure that we have an extra day to do some reviewing.
Also Friday is a Jeans and Spirit Day! Yesterday, I forgot to put a language quiz on the schedule. Here is an updated schedule for you:
Tuesday - Social Studies test Wednesday - Memory quiz Friday - Language quiz Tomorrow we begin the third quarter and we are officially half way through the year! The first half has gone by so quickly, I can hardly believe it. As we begin the third quarter the students have the chance to have a clean slate! Report cards will be sent home on Wednesday.
I will give them the new memory sheet tomorrow and hopefully some will begin saying their oral memory this week. We had a handful of students who were completed weeks before the quarter ended! I hope more will follow that example. The third quarter project will be their work for the knowledge fair. The theme of the knowledge fair is the Bible and the sixth graders are going to focus on parables. Some of the work will be done together in class and some will be done at home. We are going to start our study of Jesus's parables on Thursday this week! Look for more information to come by the end of the quarter. Here are some things that are the schedule for this week: Tuesday - Social Studies Test on Chapter 6 Wednesday - Memory Quiz on the 2nd Petition and Meaning Friday - Jeans and Spirit Day Have a great Sunday! Today was Friday, January 20, 2017. It is also known as the day Donald J. Trump became president of the United States. The new vice president is Mike Pence. I think it is great to have such a big Christian as our leader. I’m praying for both of them and that they make great decisions for our country. In school, we watched the Inauguration. If you didn’t know, Mr. and Mrs. Priehs actually got to go to the Inauguration and had a front row seat! I hope he took some pictures. I think we all agree that President Trump will try his very hardest to in fact, “Make America great again!” By: Sydney C
On Wednesday 18th, Miss Kopper got surprised, and not in a good way. You could call it not so delightful, gross. You are probably wondering what I am talking about. I am talking about….. the JELLYBEAN…..that ruined Miss Kopper’s life. This peculiar jellybean was bacon flavor. It tasted like (described by Dylan) tires in fact. Miss Kopper had a very interesting face. It was really delightful to anyone who watched. To top that off Mr. Kittleman even tried it and described it as bacon mixed with chloraseptic. You can thank (anonymous) for bringing these in. Thank you and good night! J Just a reminder if you are interested in ordering from the January book order the deadline is the end of the school day tomorrow! Orders can be submitted online or sent in with your child.

On Wednesday we had the 5th through 8th grade spelling bee. There were 13 people participating, but Kaitlyn Weiss won. Kaitlyn spelled the word mystic. If you get in first, second, and third you will get a Barnes and Nobles gift card. In second place were Sydney Garon and Pamela Eid. No matter what everyone who participated in the spelling bee did a great job. One week to go in the second quarter! Wow, time does fly by. A lot of the students are working to say their oral memory verses and not wait until the last day! That is progress from last quarter. Unfortunately, there are some students who have not started yet or only have one verse done. This is going to make it hard to finish by the end of the day on Friday. I have been trying to update the verses on Fast Direct the last few days so you can see your child's progress.
There are still a few students who still need to finish up their AR requirements as well. T he students needed to read three books this quarter and take the tests. Check with your student to see how they are doing in this area. Maybe some can do some reading this weekend. BOOK REPORTS are due Tuesday! Look for the book reports to be out in the hallway next week. If your child does not have the guidelines for the project you can find them under the book report tab of this website. Anyone who has missing work needs to turn that in by Friday or it will be recorded as a zero. Congrats to Kaitlyn W. who won the school spelling bee this week. All the sixth graders who participated did a great job. Kaitlyn will go on in March to compete in the Macomb County Spelling Bee. Tests next week: Wednesday - Quiz on Holes Part 1 Wednesday - Memory 1st Petition of the Lord's Prayer and meaning Have a great weekend and enjoy the day off on Monday. |
