Tell Them
Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power. Psalm 145:4 NLT
Wednesday is the end of the quarter. This brings a lot of things with it. First, the students have until Wednesday to say their oral memory for the quarter. Some students are done, some close to being done, and some have a ways to go. Also, any missing work (check fastdirect) needs to be handed in by Wednesday. Anything not handed in or any memory not said, will be a zero! Also, the students need to have finished their two AR books and take the tests by Wednesday.
The students did a great job on their book reports and those are displayed in the hallway outside the sixth grade room. I will keep up the reports for at least this week. Thursday is our field trip to Lutheran North for Willy Wonka. Remember this is a field trip with our buddies in young 5's. The sixth grade students are great with their buddies and this should be a great trip. If you are helping with the driving, please make sure that you are at Peace by 9:15. We are hoping to be to North around 9:40. There is no word of the week this week! The sixth graders are going to be reviewing the words we have had during this quarter. Each student is going to come up with a way to show that they understand the meaning of the words. Some students are writing skits, some stories, some creating collages, and a few other ideas. The students are doing a book project again this year. They are creating their own stories and putting them together into a class book. I am going to send home an order form on Tuesday for you to purchase a copy of the book. Please make sure you return this form by Thursday, November 10th. If you are not purchasing a book, please mark that box and return the slip by the 10th as well. Tests this week: Wednesday - Social Studies chapter 3 Wednesday - Memory - 7th and 8th commandments and meanings

Tomorrow is a jeans and spirit day. If your child would like to wear UofM or MSU shirt they may with a $1 donation to Kids Against Hunger.

Even if you are not a fan of college football, you can get excited about this week at Peace. For the last few years, we have had a money war during the week leading up to the football game. This has nothing to do with the football game, and it has everything to do with Kids Against Hunger. Our goal is to raise $3,000 for this great cause in helping children in our area and across the nation who do not have enough food to eat. Don't forget chapel offerings go to this cause as well.
If you have not returned your grandparents/special persons day rsvp, please do so this Monday. If you don't have a form, you can email me and I will make sure the office gets the information. It is also the last day to return your parent teacher conference slips. If you have not returned your field trip permission slip yet, please do so by Wednesday. The cost is $5 a ticket for students and parents. If you are able to attend with us, please make sure you have the correct information on file in the office. Thanks in advance for your help. BOOK REPORTS! The students have their first book reports due on Friday. If they are finished, they can bring them into school on Monday. I am excited to see the students' projects. They will be in the hallway on display the following week. We are a week and a half away from the quarter ending. The quarter will be ending on November 2nd. Please check with your students to see how they are doing on their oral memory. All verses need to be said by the end of the day on the 2nd. Please also check with them to see if they are done with their two accelerated reader books. Finally, any missing work due to late assignments or absent work, needs to be done and handed in by the end of the school day on the 2nd. Tests this week Wednesday - Memory - 5th and 6th Commandments and Meanings Wednesday - Language - Test on Capitalization Tentative - next social studies test - Wednesday, November 2nd. by Thai
This week in sixth grade we collected leaves with our buddies. Our buddies are in Young Fives. We went into the parking lot to find some interesting leaves. The leaves were for wreaths, but we couldn’t help our buddies make them. It was an activity for fall and it was really fun. I apologize for my delay in the news and information for the week. A lot of information went home with your child today and I am going to try and hit on the most important ones.
Tomorrow is the last day to order for October's book order. You can send in the order with a check made out to Scholastic or order your child's books online. Please order by 4pm tomorrow. I will be placing the order at that time. Today we spent some time on the guidelines for the book report of the first quarter. I think most students have now taken their file folder. This report is due on Friday, October 28th. We are going to go on a field trip with our buddies to Lutheran High North to see their production of "Willy Wonka." A permission slip will go home with your child tomorrow and I am asking for them back next Wednesday with the $5 for a ticket. If you can help with the driving, the cost is $5 for your ticket as well. Today we started reading the novel, Maniac Magee. I think the students will enjoy this book. At the end we will watch a movie Nickelodeon made based on the book and compare the two! The book is always better than the movie, right? Mark your calendars for Wednesday, November 16th! The sixth graders will be leading chapel and we would love for you to join us. The only test this week is Memory on Wednesday - 3rd and 4th Commandment and Meaning That is all for now! Enjoy the sights and sounds of this beautiful season. Just reminder that tomorrow the book orders are due. If you would like to order for your child, please send the slip in in the morning or order online before the end of the school day!

This week in the sixth grade classroom during current events class some of us tried to make up raps using our W.O.W. words. A lot of us tried but Eddie’s was pretty much the best of them all. Miss Kopper even recorded it and he has continued to make raps since Tuesday. We also had a nice funeral outside for Gordon who was the fifth grade gecko. We all spoke words of love while Eddie sang three raps and a song. Even Mr. K stopped his car and got out to say a few words. It all ended with the Lord ’s Prayer. |
