Tell Them
Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power. Psalm 145:4 NLT
My favorite day is around the corner and I am excited to share Pi Day with my students. Like I stated last week, it is my favorite school day of the year. I hope that the activities are fun for the students as we find that math and order is all around us in the world that God created. Here are a few reminders and things to remember for Pi Day 1. The students can bring in a snack for the morning on Tuesday. The snack should not be a sweet and should be circular in shape. We will be measuring and examining our snacks before digesting them. 2. The students need to bring 10 circular items with them to school on Tuesday. These ten things should fit into a plastic grocery bag. 3. We will be having some pie on Tuesday afternoon. What is pi day without pie? Of course we will be measuring and taking some data on the pie before eating it! 4. Any student who is submitting a picture or drawing for the picture contest needs to do so by Monday. Their challenge is to incorporate the pi symbol into everyday surroundings. This is an optional contest. 5. If any student would like to recite the digits of pi will be given a handmade "trophy" and be added to the hall of fame. They can say the digits up to Tuesday. I hope this is a great day for the students and a day where they see that math is all around them and can be incorporated into all areas of life. The only test that is on the schedule for next week is Memory on Wednesday. The students will be learning the Conclusion to the Lord's Prayer. I will not be in school on Thursday or Friday. Mrs. Priehs and I will be downtown for a conference during those two days. The students will be in good hands and I know they will do just fine with the substitute. Have a great weekend!
