Tell Them
Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power. Psalm 145:4 NLT
This week we celebrate with other schools through out the country. We celebrate our school and Lutheran schools in general. God has given us a place to learn where he is the center of all that is taught. In class last week we talked about building a foundation. I told the students that by being at a school like Peace, they were building their foundations on God and His Word. What a blessing it is to be able to teach about God and the Bible and I hope that Peace is a blessing to your family as well. There are fun dress days for each day this week. Here is the run down: Monday - Comfy Day Tuesday - Pick a sport day. Pick a sport and dress like that athlete. Wednesday - Dress like your favorite book character. Can't wait to see the creativity on this day. Thursday - For sixth grade is made in Michigan day! Wear a top that is from somewhere in Michigan or related to one of our sports teams. They can wear jeans with that shirt. Friday - Crazy hat and tie with jeans day The choir students will be traveling to the Music Festival on Tuesday. I know there were special departure times for this trip and if you need a reminder of those times look for information from Mrs. Rohwer on Monday. On Friday, we will be having Live Science at school. Each class will have a presentation in their classroom on some great animals. This will be an exciting treat to end Lutheran Schools Week. My favorite school day of the year is coming up on March 14th! It is Pi Day. Pi is the proportion of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. This irrational number is often rounded to 3.14. The inner math geek in my joins with other math geeks to celebrate this day! We will be integrating math and circles into all that we do on the 14th! Each student will have a chance to participate in two contests, if they would like. They can memorize digits of pi. If they memorize 50 digits of pi, they will get a handmade trophy and their name will go on my pi day hall of fame. The second contest is to take a picture or draw a piece of art where the pi symbol is incorporated into an everyday scene. Both of these contests are optional. The students will be able to bring a snack to school with them on the 14th as well. The only specification is that the snack must be circular. Please no sweets. It is always a fun day to see how much math is a part of our lives and a part of our world in all subject areas! Check out more links on pi day. This week we have a few tests to prepare for: Tuesday - Literature test on Theme 5 Wednesday - Memory - 7th Petition and Meaning Word of the Week - shirk Have a great weekend.
