Tell Them
Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power. Psalm 145:4 NLT
We had a great week last week in sixth grade and survived our first full week. Lots of exciting things are coming up in the next few weeks and I want to help you remember the important dates!
This week our word of the week will be flaw. Look for our activity from last week's word in the hallway starting Tuesday morning. Our only test this week is memory on Wednesday, Asking a Blessing. Have a blessed week.

By: Sydney Coles On September 16th, Mr. Priehs took us in to the art room. In the art room we looked through microscopes. We looked at water samples and what was in the water we might of swam in. One of the water samples had a thing that looked like a slug and things that looked like tiny fruit flies. Some of us were grossed out but some were very interested in it. Either way we all had fun and discovered many different things.

Kopper Kash is a type of money that is earned by doing your jobs in the sixth grade class. It can be used for borrowing a belt for the day or auctions. But if you leave books that are yours in the classroom, if you don’t have your shirt tucked in, or if you forget one of your books in your locker then you owe Ms. Kopper money. A lot of people have already owed money also a lot of people have earned money by doing their jobs.
Friday, we welcomed an old friend back to Peace. Joseph is going to be joining our class and the students were very excited to hear this news. That makes 20 in sixth grade! We are all adjusting to the changes and new routine of sixth grade. There are a lot of things to remember and the students are doing quite well. Kopper Kash will start tomorrow. This is the "money" of sixth grade. Our classroom jobs will also start tomorrow. Each job comes with wages that can be earned. We even will have some students on paid vacation!
We will also start Words of the Week (W.O.W.) where we will be learning a new word each week. The students will do a variety of different things with the words throughout the week. Look for some possible challenges to the parents in the future in this department. If you would like to order a book from the book orders that were sent home, you need to do so by Thursday. You can turn in the paper order or you can order online. If you turn in a paper order, please pay with a check made out to Scholastic Book Order. Have you logged on to Fast Direct? If you have you can see the grades have been updated. I am keeping track of church attendance on Fast Direct as well. If you are looking at missing assignments and you find that there is one listed for Attendance of Church that simply means your child reported that you and your family did not attend that week. There is not homework they are missing. Tests and Quizzes for the week - Wednesday - The Evening Prayer Friday - social studies test - Chapter 1 Throughout the school year, students will be sharing with you what is happening in the classroom. Today, the students thought Emily had the most newsworthy paragraph.
Literature Class Turns into Hour Long Story! By:Emily On Wednesday, September 7, the class was going through our vocabulary words in literature class. One of the words was mishap. Miss Kopper called on people to say a sentence wit that word in it. Then she decided to tell her mishap story of how she broke her foot in a bounce house. I know, weird! And guess what she was in her twenties when that happened! Pretty much it only takes the brake she had like six to eight weeks to heal, but for her it took about nine months plus surgery! We were all laughing SO HARD. Then like a hour later of was finally time to have Mr. Priehs come and teach math and science. That's how we got out of an assignment! We had a great first week of school and I really am enjoying having your children each day! We will start the ground running on Tuesday and settle even more into our routine.
Only a memory quiz next week on Wednesday from the Catechism. As we start chapter 1 in our social studies books, we are going to be looking at archaeology. To get our minds around this, I am asking that each child bring in two clean pieces of trash on Wednesday. The students will not be handling the trash, but I will use it as an aid to help us understand better the job of an archaeologist. You can send the trash in Wednesday in a grocery bag! Book orders went home on Thursday and if you would like to order, the order is due by September 15th. You can send the order in or order online. Finally, I am still looking for some parents to send in their million words essay about their child. Please send it into school or email it to me. Also, if you have not sent in your $10 for birthday celebrations, please do so next week! Today I am sending home three book orders for this month. The orders will be due on September 15th. You can send your order into school with a check made out to Scholastic or you can order online. The letter below gives you the access code and the steps to follow to order online.
